It’s that time of the year again. Fall has slowly creeped up on us, gifting us with a glorious extra hour of sleep.
This Sunday marks the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) at 2 a.m., when we all set our clocks back 1 hour and enjoy the extra snooze time before starting the day.
DST started way back during Benjamin Franklin’s time when he realized he could save money on expensive candles if he woke up an hour earlier. In the 1970’s, during the US energy crisis, the practice of DST became more popular among Americans who wanted to save money by keeping the lights off for an extra hour.
Lately there’s been a lot of contrasting views on whether Daylight Savings still adds value to society and if we actually still need it. However, until the relevant authorities have reached a conclusion, we’ll pull the covers over our heads and doze off for another hour.
