We’re sure you’ve got something special planned for the 4th of July, and we encourage everyone to partake in the festivities. If you’re uncertain, however, of how to actually make your 4th of July special, then check out some tips we’ve put together for you.
1. Let the flag fly high
There’s no greater show of patriotism than the display of red, white and blue colors synonymous with the USA. Try to be creative by adding more than just a flag here and there. Mount items such as patriotic Wish Stars on your outside walls. You can also get the family involved by making your own arts and crafts, like paper chains to display inside and outside your home.
2. Break out the barbecue
Its summer, so there’s no excuse for not enjoying good wholesome American food. Juicy steaks and burgers are the order of the day, and preparing them on your grill adds to the euphoria of unity and nationality. You should consider having family and friends over, as this allows you to share the memorable moments with people close to you.
3. Light up the sky
No 4th of July is complete without fireworks taking of the sky. Popular firework display that don’t require you lighting a match yourself include:
- Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular
- Addison Kaboom Town
- Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing
- July 4th Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
- Fourth of July at the National Mall
- Lights on the Lake Fireworks
These are big budget events that draws crowds from all over the country, and use up to 40 000 shells to create a visually striking scene. Apart from the fireworks, you can also look forward to performances from America’s top musical artists and maybe a guest appearance of influential people.
4. Do it yourself
if crowded areas and loud fireworks aren’t your thing, but you still want a spectacular show, you can always set the skies alight in an intimate environment by using wish lanterns. They give you an incredible evening effect as they float into the sky, illuminating the dark.
5. The road trip to freedom
Hitting the open road could be just what you need to celebrate the long weekend. Apart from the ever-so-popular route 66, America has other roads that you can drive through. These routes are situated all over the country and lead you to fine gems such as:
- Jackson Glacier Overlook (Going-to-the-Sun Road)
- Acadia National Park (Route 1)
- Big Sur (Pacific Coast Highway
Regardless of how you prepare or what you plan to do for the 4th of July, we hop you’ll have an exciting time during this All-American day. Try to be as creative as you can in your preparations, and always remember why you’re celebrating this culturally significant day.
